Article Efficient Removal of Ciprofloxacin From Water Using High-Surface Activated Carbon Derived From Rice Husks: Adsorption Isotherms, Kinetics, and Thermodynamic Evaluation(Multidisciplinary Digital Publishing Institute (MDPI), 2025) Demirdağ, E.; Demirel, M.F.; Benek, V.; Doğru, E.; Önal, Y.; Alkan, M.H.; Alacabey, İ.Activated carbon is widely recognized as an effective material for removing pollutants, especially pharmaceutical residues, from water. In this study, high-surface-area activated carbon derived from rice husks (RHAC) was synthesized via KOH activation and used for the adsorption of ciprofloxacin, a widely used fluoroquinolone antibiotic. Its adsorption behavior was systematically investigated through batch experiments varying the pH, adsorbent dosage, contact time, initial concentration, and temperature. The RHAC exhibited a high surface area of 1539.7 m2/g and achieved a maximum adsorption capacity of 398.4 mg·g−1. The Freundlich isotherm best describes its adsorption equilibrium, suggesting multilayer adsorption on a heterogeneous surface. Kinetic modeling revealed that the adsorption process followed a pseudo second-order model (R2 = 0.9981), indicating chemisorption as the rate-limiting mechanism. Thermodynamic parameters (ΔH° = 6.61 kJ/mol, ΔG° < 0) confirmed that the process was endothermic and spontaneous. These findings demonstrate that RHAC is a highly efficient, low-cost, and sustainable adsorbent for removing ciprofloxacin from aqueous environments. © 2025 by the authors.Article Characterising Acute and Chronic Care Needs: Insights From the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019(Nature Research, 2025) Zuniga, Y.M.H.; Zumla, A.; Zuhlke, L.J.; Zoladl, M.; Ziaeian, B.; Zhong, C.; Gallus, S.Chronic care manages long-term, progressive conditions, while acute care addresses short-term conditions. Chronic conditions increasingly strain health systems, which are often unprepared for these demands. This study examines the burden of conditions requiring acute versus chronic care, including sequelae. Conditions and sequelae from the Global Burden of Diseases Study 2019 were classified into acute or chronic care categories. Data were analysed by age, sex, and socio-demographic index, presenting total numbers and contributions to burden metrics such as Disability-Adjusted Life Years (DALYs), Years Lived with Disability (YLD), and Years of Life Lost (YLL). Approximately 68% of DALYs were attributed to chronic care, while 27% were due to acute care. Chronic care needs increased with age, representing 86% of YLDs and 71% of YLLs, and accounting for 93% of YLDs from sequelae. These findings highlight that chronic care needs far exceed acute care needs globally, necessitating health systems to adapt accordingly. © The Author(s) 2025.Article Muscular Strength and Endurance Adaptations To Functional Resistance Training in Young Elite Field Hockey Players(Frontiers Media Sa, 2025) Gurkan, Alper Cenk; Eraslan, Meric; Aydin, Serhat; Altug, Tolga; Turkmen, Mustafa; Soyler, Mehmet; Kucuk, HamzaBackground: Functional strength training (FST) has gained considerable attention due to its potential in enhancing muscle strength, endurance, and body composition, especially among athletes. The purpose of this study was to assess the effects of a 12-week FST program on performance outcomes such as muscle strength, muscular endurance, and body composition in elite male field hockey players. Methods: The study involved 28 male athletes from the T & uuml;rkiye Hockey Federation Super League, with a mean age of 27.54 +/- 1.34 years and an average athletic experience of 7.62 +/- 0.48 years. The mean height of participants was 180.28 +/- 4.54 cm, and their mean weight was 75.59 +/- 3.08 kg. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: the experimental group (n = 14) and the control group (n = 14). Pre-intervention assessments were conducted to evaluate muscle strength (Leg Extension, Leg Curl, Bench Press, Pushdown), muscular endurance (30-s Sit-up and Push-up tests), and body composition [Body Mass Index (BMI) and Body Fat Percentage (BFP)]. The experimental group participated in the FST program three times per week for 12 weeks, while the control group maintained their usual training regimen. Post-test evaluations were performed using the same testing protocols. Statistical Analysis: Data were analyzed using two-way repeated measures ANOVA to assess the interaction effects of group and time (pre-test vs post-test). Partial eta squared (eta(2)) values were used to report effect sizes, and statistical significance was set at p < 0.05. Data analysis was carried out using SPSS 22.0 software. Normality was assessed through the Shapiro-Wilk test, and data distribution was further examined through skewness-kurtosis values, histograms, box plots, and Q-Q plots. Paired sample t-tests were performed for pairwise comparisons, with Cohen's d used to determine the effect sizes. The classification for effect sizes followed Hopkins' (2002) guidelines: small (>= 0.01), moderate (>= 0.06), and large (>= 0.14). Results: Significant group x time interaction effects were found for all measured variables (p < 0.05). The experimental group showed greater improvements in body composition, muscle strength, and muscular endurance compared to the control group. Specifically, the experimental group experienced a significant reduction in BMI (pre-test: 21.17 +/- 0.64 kg/m(2), post-test: 19.84 +/- 0.85 kg/m(2), p < 0.001) and BFP (pre-test: 15.36% +/- 0.62%, post-test: 12.13% +/- 0.47%, p < 0.001), while the control group showed minimal changes in these variables. Muscle strength improvements in the experimental group were significant for Leg Extension (pre-test: 83.93 +/- 4.87 kg, post-test: 66.07 +/- 4.01 kg, p = 0.003), Leg Curl (pre-test: 99.29 +/- 7.81 kg, post-test: 118.21 +/- 5.04 kg, p < 0.001), and Bench Press (pre-test: 66.43 +/- 6.91 kg, post-test: 87.14 +/- 4.69 kg, p < 0.001). In contrast, the control group did not show significant improvements in these tests. Muscular endurance was also superior in the experimental group for both the 30-s Sit-up (pre-test: 19.21 +/- 0.97, post-test: 23.36 +/- 1.28, p < 0.001) and Push-up (pre-test: 24.66 +/- 2.53, post-test: 27.04 +/- 0.81, p < 0.001) tests. Effect sizes (Cohen's d) indicated moderate to large effects for all measured variables, with d values ranging from 0.46 to 1.14 for strength and endurance improvements. Conclusion: The findings of this study demonstrate that a 12-week FST program significantly improves muscle strength, endurance, and body composition in elite male field hockey players. These results suggest that incorporating FST into athletic training regimens may optimize performance and enhance overall physical fitness in athletes.Article Cardiac Autonomic Control Reflects Sympathovagal Changes Associated With Withholding Urination(Wiley, 2025) Alabdo, Ahmad; Oflazoglu, Basak; Kus, Mehmet Mustafa; Cakan, Pinar; Ugras, Seda; Yildiz, SedatIntroductionIncreased volume of the urinary bladder causes urge to urinate and constricts the sphincter by increasing the tonus of the sympathetic nervous system (SNS). Activity of the autonomic nervous system (or sympatho-vagal balance) can be assessed by heart rate variability (HRV). Current study aimed to test in healthy young male participants whether HRV technique reflects increased sympathovagal balance during bladder distention as revealed by strong urge to urinate.Materials and MethodsA total of young and apparently healthy 11 males agreed to participate to the current study. They were asked to provide 5-min continuous electrocardiogram (ECG) recordings in supine position for determination of HRV on two occasions, i.e. before and approximately for 3 1/2 hours after withholding urination. HRV parameters included heart rate (HR, per min), total power (TP, ms2), and standard deviation of RR intervals (SDNN, ms); percentage of successive RR intervals that were different >= 50 ms (pNN50), low frequency (LF) and high frequency (HF) bands and their normalized units (LFnu and HFnu, respectively) and their ratios (LF/HF). Half of the students provided samples on both occasions and those data were compared by paired t-test following log10 transformation.ResultsWithholding urination did not change HR (from 80.0 +/- 4.1 to 84.5 +/- 3.1 per min, p = 0.135) but decreased total power (from 2692 +/- 802 to 1605 +/- 357 ms2, p = 0.008), SDNN (from 50.4 +/- 5.8 to 38.7 +/- 3.8 ms, p = 0.007) and pNN50 (from 15.6 +/- 3.3 to 5.9 +/- 2.6%, p = 0.016) and increased LFnu (from 57.3 +/- 5.3 to 65.1 +/- 4.5, p = 0.029) and LF/HF ratio (from 1.77 +/- 0. 73 to 2.42 +/- 0.47, p = 0.047).ConclusionsIncreased LF/HF together with decreased SDNN and pNN50 suggest that HRV successfully reflects increased sympathetic tonus over the parasympathetic to help accommodate the urine in the bladder. Moreover, it seems that HRV can be used to assess sympathovagal changes non-invasively during voiding. However, new approaches and treatment strategies for early intervention and prevention of depression in children and adolescents are still limited. Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb widely used in the management of anxiety and stress. However, there is no information in the current literature on its potential effect on adolescent depression.ObjectivesThis study aimed to investigate the effects of depression on proapoptotic proteins and neuroinflammation and the antidepressant effect of Ashwagandha on depression-like symptoms in adolescent rats exposed to the Chronic Unpredictable Mild Stress (CUMS) model.MethodsIn the study, CUMS model was used to induce depression in adolescent rats. Rats were treated with Ashwagandha or Sertraline. To evaluate the antidepressant effects, behavioral tests as well as biochemical and histological analyses were performed. Forced Swim Test (FST), Sucrose Test and Elevated Plus Maze Test were performed as behavioral tests. Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and nerve growth factor (NGF) were measured by the ELISA method in the fronto-parietal cortex. Proapoptotic proteins (Bax and Caspase-3) and inflammatory markers (TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta), as well as glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), were evaluated immunohistochemically in the fronto-parietal cortex.ResultsProapoptotic proteins (Bax and Caspase-3) and inflammatory markers (TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta) were increased in the CUMS group. BDNF and GFAP levels were decreased. Ashwagandha treatment was more effective than Sertraline in reducing the levels of these proteins and markers. These innovative materials are revolutionizing modern agriculture by enabling precision farming practices that optimize resource utilization and enhance crop productivity. This study investigates the role of silicon oxide nanoparticles (SiO2 NPs, 200 ppm) in mitigating arsenic (As, 50 mu M) toxicity in Brassica juncea. The results demonstrate that As stress significantly impaired morphological and physiological parameters, as well as the accumulation of key metabolites, including flavonoids, phenolics, proteins, soluble sugars, and free amino acids. However, foliar application of SiO2 NPs effectively alleviated As-induced toxicity by enhancing antioxidant enzyme activities and maintaining nutrient homeostasis. The application of SiO2 NPs also positively influenced growth parameters, net photosynthetic rate, stomatal conductance, and soluble sugar content. Notably, SiO2 NPs improved the transpiration rate by 52%, leaf nitrogen content by 33%, and phenolic content by 42%. Furthermore, there was a significant reduction in oxidative stress markers, with hydrogen peroxide and malondialdehyde levels decreasing by 41% and 39%, respectively, indicating reduced oxidative damage and lipid peroxidation. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiObjective This study investigated the neuroprotective effects of melatonin in mice subjected to traumatic brain injury (TBI), focusing on caspase-dependent apoptotic signaling pathways.Materials and methods A total of 21 mice were divided into three groups: control, trauma (TBI), and trauma + melatonin (TBI + M). TBI was induced in the TBI and TBI + M groups via a free-fall impact on the frontal lobes. A single dose of 10 mg/kg of melatonin was intraperitoneally administered to the TBI + M group. Brain tissues were collected for histological evaluation and immunohistochemical analysis of apoptotic proteins.Results The control group showed normal brain morphology, while the trauma group exhibited significant tissue loss and demyelination. The TBI + M group demonstrated reduced demyelination compared to the trauma group. An immunohistochemical analysis revealed increased expression of Bax and decreased expression of Bcl-2 in the trauma group, both of which were mitigated by melatonin treatment. The expression levels of caspase-3 and caspase-9 were elevated in the trauma group, whereas the TBI + M group showed expression levels comparable to the control group.Conclusion TBI increased apoptotic protein expression, indicating neurodegeneration. The administration of melatonin at 10 mg/kg attenuated TBI-induced apoptosis and demyelination while promoting anti-apoptotic protein expression in the experimental model. Over 400,000 permanent pacemakers are implanted annually worldwide, mostly under local anesthesia (LA), which is preferred for its hemodynamic stability. However, inadequate LA often leads to excessive use of local anesthetics or analgesics. This study evaluates the efficacy of combining interscalene brachial plexus block (ISB) and superficial cervical plexus block (SCPB) as regional anesthesia (RA) techniques during permanent pacemaker implantation compared to LA. Materials and Methods: A total of 42 patients were divided into RA and LA groups. The RA group underwent ISB and SCPB under ultrasound guidance, while the LA group received traditional local anesthetic methods. Results: The RA group exhibited superior pain control, reduced analgesic requirements, and higher satisfaction rates compared to the LA group. Ultrasound guidance enhanced block success rates and minimized complications. Conclusions: ISB and SCPB offer a superior alternative to LA for pacemaker implantation, especially in patients with anxiety or insufficient LA response.Letter The Naples Prognostic Score in TAVI Patients: a Promising Tool Requiring Further Validation. The present study examined the effects of Muay Thai exercises on quality of life, love of life and self-control scores in healthy male subjects. Methods The present study comprised 50 healthy sedentary male subjects. The subjects were randomly divided into two groups: one group engaged in Muay Thai training (MTT), while the other group served as a control group (CON). The sample sizes for the MTT and CON groups were both 25. The MTT group participated in basic Muay Thai training, while the CON group continued their normal life regime. The SF-12 quality of life scale, love of life scale and multidimensional self-control scale were administered before and after the six-week training period. Results The study concluded that the six-week Muay Thai training program had a significant effect on quality of life levels, with 13.23% (p = 0.003) and 21.93% (p < 0.001) of participants demonstrating improvements in physical and mental scores, respectively. In terms of self-control levels, the program was found to have a significant effect on initiation and inhibition scores, with increases of 23.78% (p = 0.001) and 24.69% (p < 0.001), respectively. It was concluded that had a significant effect on the sub-dimensions of the Love of Life scale with increases of Positive Attitude Toward Life (PAWL) 18.63% (p < 0.001), Happy Results of the Love of Life (HRLL) 20.11% (p < 0.001) and Meaningfulness of Life (ML) 15.62% (p < 0.001), respectively. However, no significant differences were detected in any of the scales within the control group. Conclusion Muay Thai exercises had a positive effect on quality of life, love of life and self-control levels in healthy male subjects. By providing valuable insights into how Muay Thai exercise affects quality of life, love of life, and self-control, this research can guide future intervention and program design in the context of sport psychology.Article Impact of a Psychoeducation on Caregiver Burden, Internalized Stigma, Anxiety, and Coping in Caregivers of Children With Epilepsy: a Randomized Pilot Study(Wiley, 2025) Sakız, Halis; Sakiz, Halis; 02.04. Using a randomized design, 54 caregivers were assigned to either an experimental (n = 28) or control (n = 26) group. The 6-week intervention included psychoeducation, emotional support, and stress-management techniques aimed at enhancing caregivers' psychological well-being. Results showed significant reductions in caregiving burden (p = 0.000), internalized stigma (p = 0.000), and anxiety (p = 0.000) in the experimental group, while the control group showed no significant changes. Caregivers in the experimental group also adopted more adaptive coping strategies, including increased self-confidence (p = 0.000) and optimistic approaches (p = 0.001), greater reliance on social support (p = 0.001), and decreased use of helpless (p = 0.000) and submissive coping styles (p = 0.000). Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiObjective: This study aimed to evaluate the prevalence and severity of menopausal symptoms among perimenopausal women in a rural area of southeastern Turkey and their association with sleep quality, depression and sociodemographic and lifestyle-related factors. Methods: This cross-sectional study included 122 perimenopausal women aged 40-55 years residing in southeastern rural Turkey. Participants completed the Beck Depression Inventory (BDI), the Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), alongside demographic data collection. Results: The median age was 46 years (43-49 years). Higher MRS scores were significantly linked to a sedentary lifestyle, poor self-rated health and concerns about partner infidelity. MRS total scores were moderately correlated with global PSQI scores (r = 0.49, p < 0.001) and strongly correlated with BDI scores (r = 0.71, p < 0.001). Severe menopausal symptoms were significantly associated with poor sleep quality (odds ratio [OR] = 2.62; 95% confidence interval [CI]: 1.16-5.95), mild to severe depression (OR = 4.78; 95% CI: 2.08-10.98) and poor self-rated general health (OR = 2.76; 95% CI: 1.03-7.41), even after adjusting for age, parity and body mass index. Conclusions: Perimenopausal women in southeastern rural Turkey experience severe menopausal symptoms that are significantly associated with self-rated general health, sleep quality and depression.Article An Evaluation of the Syrian Pregnant Women's Prenatal Care Satisfaction: a Cross-Sectional Study(Univ Sao Paolo, 2025) İçke, Sibel; Çifçi, Sema; 09.01. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiObjective: This study aims to examine the satisfaction levels of Syrian migrant pregnant women living in Mardin with prenatal care services and the factors influencing their satisfaction. Method: This is a cross-sectional study. The population of the study consisted of Syrian pregnant women who applied to Mardin Training and Research Hospital between August 15 and September 16, 2023. A total of 146 Syrian pregnant women who met the inclusion criteria participated in the study. The sociodemographic information form and the Prenatal Care Satisfaction Scale were used as data collection tools. Results: The rate of those who received prenatal care from a midwife/nurse is 80.1% and those who received less than 4 prenatal care was 89.7%. The most common reason for not receiving adequate prenatal care was lack of information with a rate of 39.7%. The mean score of the PCSS was 73.39 +/- 14.78. Conclusion: The study findings indicate that lack of information is one of the major barriers to healthcare access for migrant pregnant women. The research was descriptive, cross-sectional, and correlational. The study sample comprised 1,004 people over the age of 65 who visited family health centers in a province in the east of T & uuml;rkiye. The Older Person's Description Form, the Body-Cathexis Scale, the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale Short Form, and the Sexual Attitude Scale for Elderly People were used for data collection. For the data analysis, Pearson's r correlation test, simultaneous multiple linear regression, and binary logistic regression were employed. The mean age of the participants was 69.97 +/- 5.74 years, and 66.9% were between 65 and 74 years of age. Furthermore, 53.8% of the participants were male and 56.2% had two chronic illnesses. It was found that the participants' age, body image, and self-esteem explained 84% of the total variance in their permissive attitudes toward sexuality. Furthermore, as the age of the older adults with chronic illnesses increased, there were negative effects on their permissive attitudes toward sexuality. However, as their body image and self-esteem levels improved, there was a positive effect on their permissive attitudes toward sexuality. Arsenic is one of the PTEs that is thought to be the most poisonous and carcinogenic. Plants exposed to arsenic may experience several morphological, physiological, and biochemical changes-even at extremely low concentrations. Arsenic toxicity to plants varies with its speciation in plants (e.g., arsenite, As(III); arsenate, As(V)), with the kind of plant species, and with other soil parameters affecting arsenic accumulation in plants, according to new study on arsenic in the soil-plant system. Arsenic stress modifies metabolic cascades in plants at different developmental stages by affecting the pattern of gene expressions mediated by small non-coding RNAs (micro-RNAs), which are essential for plant adaptation to oxidative stress and play a key role in the moderation of numerous cellular processes. In this review, we investigated the impact of calcium (Ca2 +) on the toxicity of arsenic in plant and soil environments. Plant grown with arsenic exhibited enhanced arsenic uptake, increased oxidative stress and growth inhibition. Arsenic toxicity modulates carbohydrate, lipid, and protein metabolism along with DNA structure. Role of Ca2+, Ca channels and Ca sensors to signaling pathways also described briefly. A worldwide issue for humanity is the poisoning of soil ecosystems by arsenic. The study was conducted in schools located in residential areas where stray dogs are densely populated in Mardin. Phenomenology design, one of the qualitative research methods, was used in the study. The study was conducted with the participation of stakeholders in seven different schools, including central and village schools. In T & uuml;rkiye, it has been determined that stray dogs endanger children's road safety to school and prevent equal opportunities in education. Research results show that stray dogs negatively affect the safety of not only students but also other stakeholders of the school. According to the results, stray dogs cause fear, panic, stress, reluctance to school, lack of self-confidence in students and other stakeholders in psychological terms, and chasing, falling and getting injured, biting and traffic accidents in physical terms. Stray dogs cause different negative effects such as preventing students and other school stakeholders from accessing the school, causing students to be absent, affecting the school's course operation, spreading infectious diseases and creating visual pollution in the environment. Mardin Artuklu University / Mardin Artuklu ÜniversitesiStudy was planned in a descriptive design to examine how the empathic tendencies of students in the Faculty of Health Sciences affect their attitudes toward individuals who have different sexual orientations and was conducted with seven hundred and six students. The data collected online using the Student Information Form, Empathic Tendency Scale (ETS) and Attitudes Toward Lesbian and Gay Men Scale (ATLGS). Participants' mean scores were 62.98 +/- 18.79 on the ESS and 29.02 +/- 10.75 on the ATLGS. When the correlation between ETS and ATLGS scores was analyzed, a positive and moderate (p<0.05) correlation (r = 0.62) was found between ETS and ATLGS scores. These scores were moderate and the correlation between ETS and ATLGS scores was significant (F=438.585; p<0.05). Empathic disposition explained 38.3% of the total change in ATLGS level (R2=0.383) and increased ATLGS level (B=0.620). In particular, gynecological cancers can be prevented or treated by adopting healthy lifestyles, raising awareness, and detecting them early. This study aimed to identify levels of gynecological cancer awareness and healthy lifestyle behaviors among women aged 20-65 years. There were 251 women in the descriptive cross-sectional study. The Gynecological Cancers Awareness Scale (GCAS), the Descriptive Characteristics Form, and the Healthy Lifestyle Behavior Scale-II (HLBS-II) were used to gather data. The data was analyzed using the Pearson's correlation test, multiple linear regression, and descriptive statistics. The average HLBS-II score was 123.53 +/- 20.75, while the average GCAS score was 149.64 +/- 21.30. The HLBS-II and GCAS scores showed a statistically significant positive correlation. Women knowledgeable about early diagnosis methods scored 10.758 times higher on the GCAS, while women familiar with vulvar self-examination scored 11.016 times higher. Employed women had a mean HLBS-II score 6.124 times higher than non-employed women (p<0.05). Women's awareness of gynecological cancer was high, but they also had moderately good lifestyle choices. (A. officinalis) is a herbaceous traditional medicinal plant used in the treatment of some diseases. The presence of its medicinal properties suggested that A. officinalis (AO) leaf extract could be used as a coating agent for the environmentally friendly production of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs). Methods: The synthesized biogenic silver nanoparticles (AO-AgNPs) were characterized using different techniques. The antimicrobial activity of AgNPs against common bacterial pathogenic strains was determined by the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) method. The presence of phytochemicals was determined by LSMS/MS. The MTT assay was used to investigate AO-AgNPs' cytotoxic activity in malignant (LnCap, Caco2, MDA-MB2, A549) and healthy (HEK-293) cell lines. Results: LC-MS/MS analysis detected the presence of rich phytochemicals that may be responsible for reduction reactions. Biogenic AO-AgNPs exhibited effective inhibition of the growth of pathogenic microorganisms at low concentrations. The most effective antimicrobial activity was measured as 0.5 mu g/mL MIC against S. aureus, E. coli, and C. albicans. Moreover, AO-AgNPs showed significant inhibition on the growth of cancerous cell lines, especially at a concentration of 25 mu g/mL. On the contrary, it was determined that the inhibition rate decreased in the growth of healthy cell lines due to the increase in concentration. The lowest EC50 values were determined as 15.15 mu g/mL in A549 cells. Conclusion: The obtained results showed that AO could be an important source for the synthesis of AgNPs. Especially their ability to inhibit the growth of antibiotic-resistant pathogenic bacteria at low concentrations compared to common antibiotics indicates that AOAgNPs can be used as biomedical agents in various areas. Combining nutritional and inflammatory markers, the NPS (the NAPLES prognostic score) might improve outcome prediction. Aims: This study investigated the associations of the NPS with one-year mortality and major adverse cardiovascular events (MACEs) in TAVI patients. Material and methods:This retrospective analysis included 222 patients with severe aortic stenosis who underwent TAVI. The NPS was calculated based on the serum alb & uuml;min concentration, cholesterol concentration, lymphocyte/monocyte ratio, and neutrophil/lymphocyte ratio. The patients were subsequently categorized into two groups: the low-NPS group (NPS 0-2) and the high-NPS group (NPS 3-4). Results: A high NPS was significantly associated with increased one-year mortality (4.8% vs. 23.7%; P <0.001) and MACE rates (7.2% vs. 35.9%; P <0.001). Cox regression analysis demonstrated that a high NPS was an independent predictor of both mortality (HR, 5.94; 95% CI, 2.03-17.37; P = 0.001) and MACEs (HR, 5.09; 95% CI, 2.15-12.02; P <0.001). Conclusions: The NPS emerged as a potential predictor of long-term mortality and MACEs in TAVI patients. Further validation through larger, multicenter, studies is warranted.This research contributes valuable data on the role of the NPS in TAVI risk stratification.
